First Night Maddness

I am now thoroughly educated on what to do in case there is a fire, we hit an iceberg or I get sick!! Thank goodness!!!

This day has been very eventful and a tad stressful getting here so we had decided that we were just going to eat dinner on the Lido deck at the buffet because we would all have to change clothing if we were to go to the dining room. HOWEVER, nothing on the buffet looked too appetizing - they had decided to have a "goodbye" BBQ ... but being from Memphis, I'm kinda picky when it comes to that stuff! SO - up to the room we went to change and go to dinner.

Somehow there was a mix up with our dinner arrangements and instead of having an assigned table and time to eat we were placed in "open seating" which means you can eat any time you want from 5:15-9:00 and usually are placed at a table with other people you may or may not know. For tonight's dinner we were seated with a couple from Washington, a family of 3 from Washington & California, and another couple (whom the wife was very chatty with my grandmother, but I couldn't hear a word she said over the talking of everyone else) and then the 3 of us. They all seemed shocked that my mother & grandmother would drive all the way to Seattle from Memphis ... But they made it all in one piece (or 2) without any major incidents (no throwing grand mom off the side of the grand canyon or leaving her behind in the desert one of the multiple times they got lost ..)

For tonight's dinner I went with fresh fruit, fresh green salad, prime rib & red velvet cake ... Wow. The fruit and salad were good, the prime rib was ok ... but the red velvet cake was absolutely amazing and made up for any shortcomings of the rest of the meal!!! If I ate like this all the time I would have to be on a diet every other week!!!

After dinner we decided to explore the ship (and find the casino). So off we went- all around the 5th floor - through the coffee shop, past the 2 gift shops, through the still closed casino and we ended up in a Lounge area where they were playing "name that tune". At this point I looked out the window and noticed the beautiful sunset behind the mountainside and decide to brave the cold and very windy weather to get some pictures. I ran back to our room on the 7th floor then up the stairs to the 8th floor to get on the deck where no windows were in my way. It was FREEZING!!! however, after this crazy summer of 110+ multiple days in a row, I was NOT complaining!!!

The sunset was very pretty, but my pictures didn't do it justice. I never realized how hard it is to get a decent picture (I.e., not blurry) when you're on a moving & rocking ship!!

As I write this, I'm sitting in the Queen's lounge waiting on a game of BINGO to start. Now don't start judging - yes I'm on a cruise with a population of 80% senior citizens ... The prize is $200!!! I can always use $200, and I don't really feel bad if I beat out a senior citizen ... That sounded horrible - but it's the truth.

Ok, well wish me luck!!!
