therefore trying to avoid saying"y'all" - but it's just so easy!!!
We just docked in Ketchikan - right next to the "Wild Alaskan Stunt Show" tent ... I have no idea. My assumption is lumberjacks .. But I really have no clue!!!

We all woke up around 5 (adding that extra hour over night really did us in - but the fact that we all went to bed at 8:30 didn't help things!!!) The water was rough last night and neither myself nor my Mom were feeling too hot - sleep was what we needed. Luckily, when we woke up this morning the ship wasn't rocking so much. It was raining when we woke up and lots of fog out - but it isn't too bad now - just a nice 62 outside!
We all got ready and headed up to breakfast - we figured we better have something of sustenance since we'll be out in Ketchikan all day. I was very intrigued by the breakfast choices - but settled on a Belgian waffle and piece of Zucchini Bread French Toast - it was actually pretty good!!!
After breakfast we went back to our room and sat on the balcony to watch us dock - very fascinating. On our way in we saw another pilot boat drop off someone to the ship.

We also saw some amazing yahts, some floating planes and a helicopter.

We are in Ketchikan with 3 other cruise ships (Carnival, Celebrity and either Royal Caribbean or Norwegian - we can't tell). We were the last ship into port and had to dock the furthest away from downtown. It was fascinating watching the ship turn and dock in sideways without hitting anything .. I have no idea how they do that!!!

As we were docking I saw the Aleutian Ballad. For those of you who are "Deadliest Catch" fans, this was a shipping vessel that was on the show several seasons ago, but has since changed itself into a tourist attraction and takes people out crabbing. It was very cool to see, not nearly as big as I expected And they had changed everything on it to accommodate seating for people on board.

People are starting to get off so I guess I should go so we can get off too. We don't have any formal plans booked here, but the plan is to find a tour and go see the various sites (a totem pole park, salmon runs, etc.). we're just going to hope the weather continues to cooperate!!!
